The Vestax PMC-05Pro was the first release in a steady stream of mixers designed specifically for the rigorous needs and evolving techniques of scratch DJs. This was 1995, getting on for three decades ago. Feeling old now?
It was a bulletproof box with just enough features, but the main one being the crossfader curve, meaning line switches didn’t need to be fixed anymore and that multi-click techniques could be developed. This immediately assured its place on the legendary DJ gear timeline.
It spawned many editions and revisions, the last being the MK IV, a mixer that I and many others consider to be the progenitor for every scratch mixer since.
