ISSUE #1
Here we are. After a soft launch and a few more subscribers, I’m ready to make this a regular thing. It's definitely a work in progress, but I think I've got the basics sorted, one of which was the day it arrived in your inbox.
WHY THE WEEKEND?
As a newsletter newbie, I had to spend time looking into the ways of such things, especially when to send them out. And after reading the sage words from the acknowledged experts, I decided to ignore it all and send it out on Saturday mornings.
My logic, based on my own practices, is that during the week I’ll scroll past newsletters in amongst all the other inbox business chaff. But at the weekend, my inbox is largely empty, apart from a regular Saturday morning newsletter from Hiut Denim.
I look forward to it. I notice when it slips an hour or even a day. And that's how I want you to feel about mine.
It might not be every weekend, but when it does get sent out it'll arrive on a Saturday.
THE BASIC IDEA
As I'm trying to build a community again, a full-on sales blast would be a non-starter. So instead, this will be a mixture of things I'm doing, thinking, and seeing.
This top part will be for subscribers. It could be anything, but will be just for you. The second part will be articles I've written and put up in the shop. They could be long or short, but will be open for you to comment on or add too. The last part will be a few things I've seen while I've been exploring online, or have appeared in my inbox.
Just bear with me, and do feel free to reply to this email with thoughts and comments. After all, the whole point of this is to build a community and solid connections with new and existing investors in my art.

A GIFT FOR AN OLD FRIEND
A few weeks ago, I received an order for one of the remaining Vestax Trinity prints. With it came a request — it was a gift for Karl aka Radikarl, a name that will be familiar with Serato DJs.
I was asked if I could somehow make it special. And having known Karl for ever, I was happy to oblige.
But it wasn't the Vestax Trinity print that was special — I remembered that Karl had made the DDC Ice Headshell. And I still had it in my collection.
So I drew it — a unique 1/1 that nobody else will ever own.
It's not much, but he was very happy indeed, which in this world is everything to me. We need more of that.

Words — and pictures
I stopped writing and started drawing. But now I'm doing words and pictures. They're not mutually exclusive and are entirely complementary.

Welcome to my house
I loved the community at DJWORX. So that's what I'm after again. This is the algorithm-free world I'm building at my house.

Leaving social media
Social media started off well, but descended into an addictive doomscrolling cesspit. And with Zuck publicly destroying his moral compass, I'm out.

STUFF I'VE SEEN
Look, mit’s not DJs keeping vinyl alive — it’s the ones who weren’t even born when it was at its height. Bloody kids, coming round here, buying all our vinyl... DJ MAG

I’m a Mac user from the times of Mac IICXs. So I know other Mac users of a particular vintage will appreciate this.

I know the image looks a tad AI content-ish, but it not. This is about a real person who burned out and found happiness in her shed. I related big time. If your terrible job makes you ill, read this.
